You Me at Six – Hold Me Down – virgin records

This album screams emo pop. Very much like Yellowcard, My Chemical Romance and every other power pop teen punk emo band. This band, which hails from England, has gotten murdered in every review I have read about them. Although, there is probably a reason why they are on Virgin Records. Which is kids eat up this stuff and truthfully there music is not that bad. Honestly, their music is actually quite good ( it just suffers from being young)  and will definitely appeal to young people and those who have been smite by love and have a damaged heart.  Although, most tunes on this disk are up-tempo and have a generally feel good vibe to them; unless you read the lyrics without the music (Cause the lyrics can be kind of depressing). But does anyone remember how terrible Dashboard confessionals lyrics were and yet they still helped you get through your heart break and then made you happy to sing along to all of their songs. Well this is kinda what I think might happen for many a youth who might listen to this band.  Truthfully, I think this band will be many teenage boys and girls favorite new band for a while.

I only recommend all the tracks because none of them sound bad and all of them are safe for airplay.

Constellations debut album entitled Sothern Gothic which is released on 
virgin records The Constellations burst on to the scene with their cult following and their extremely succesfull first independent album being rereleased on Virgin Records. Their style is a blend of everything great about indie rock, synth rock, hip hop, funk, pop, spoken word and dance. If you like any of the following artist you will like the Constellation. So, if you like MGMT, Tom Waits, asher roth, Hockey, Mc5, 311, Muse and Radiohead you will probably like this album Sothern Gothic. This album should be in your cd player on repeat and you should have it in heavy rotation on your mp3 player. Play this album at your beach parties and  house parties cause there is something for everyone on this album and it has a great party feel. In addtion to the 8 members of the Constellation are awesome guest appearances by Cee-Lo and Asher Roth.

The band hails from Atlanta, Georgia and has been seen performing at places like Bonnaroo and will be playing this years Lallapalooza. Trust me this is your perfect pick as a summer party album.

   BAND OF HORSES

   INFINITE ARMS

“Every day and night, the banana peels were true.” Indeed they were.

If you’ve never paid attention to Band of Horses, let me kindly suggest that now would be an appropriate time to start. Infinite Arms is the third studio album from the six-year-old Seattle band and in my opinion, the best yet. That’s a pretty bold statement after the success of their 2007 album Cease to Begin and singles like The Funeral and Is there a Ghost. The pure, majestic voice of Ben Bridwell continues to sell Band of Horse’s signature sound on Infinite Arms, but the band is a little more rockin’ than in previous albums. This album is what fans would expect from the band as far as sound and style, but while in some cases that indicates a band in need of new creativity, for Band of Horses it signifies an audience that can’t get enough of what they are putting out. While true to their distinguished style, Infinite Arms will still blow you away in a totally new way.

Start with tracks 1, 5, 9, and 11, then put the CD in your car, on repeat, for several days.

Recommended if you like: My Morning Jacket, The Flaming Lips, Neil Young, Wilco

Summer!

Calling All Northern Michigan University Students who are going to be in Marquette, Michigan over the summer semester.

If you have ever wanted to be a Radio X disc jockey there is no time like the summer to get your foot in the door. During the summer many of the time slots open up because many of the Radio X disc Jockeys return to their homes far away from Marquette, Michigan. 

So, if you have always wanted to be a Radio Disc Jockey and never have had the time or if you have just never a received a interview. NOW IS THE TIME!! 

The Odds are in your Favor for the summer if you want to be a Radio X disc jockey. The Apps are due by April 15th Please write summer on the application.
